Former Republican Senator Gordon Humphrey has said he believes that there are much more chances in the newly elected U.S. Senate to support the provision of modern lethal weapons to Ukraine.
He wrote this in an article for the Washington Post.
“At present, I count 47 senators – Democrats and Republicans – who are on record supporting lethal defensive weapons for Ukraine. That is a high starting number, given the profound nature of the question and the opposition of President Obama,” Humphrey said.
He believes that among those legislators who have not publicly spoken on the issue many senators will also support the provision of weapons to Ukraine.
